By pure magic we left our house at 1:30 pm, went to the deYoung museum in San Francisco and returned home at 4:45 pm. It was as if we were transported by a magic carpet ride the drive so effortless.
On Wednesday, August 16th, I thought to check the dates of the Summer of Love exhibit at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco.
Looking at our schedule, therapy, caregivers, and just energy level I couldn’t quite see how we’d work it in before the weekend. But, I was determined to go to the exhibit and NOT go on the weekend. That left only Thursday afternoon as Lizzie was busy in the morning. The longer I thought about it the more I thought, be flexible, San Francisco doesn’t have to be an all day trip.
So, I figured that leaving the house at 1:30 pm on a Thursday we could avoid all traffic. Further, if we left San Francisco around 4 we could just miss commuter traffic going home. It’s a scant one hour trip without traffic, 40.3 miles to the city. With traffic I won’t even comment about how long it would take.
We left on time and imagine there was no traffic! Round trip, all in, 3 hours and 15 minutes.
What a paradigm shift! Now instead of thinking of a trip to San Francisco as an all day exhausting trip we can be flexible, adjust our window, ride the magic carpet, and still have an awesome experience.
